Three routes to working with the Centre
We are structured to be contracted directly, to join a consortium as a technical partner, or to be retained for short-form advisory and training.
Grant-funded programmes
Prime or sub-recipient delivery with full technical, MEL and compliance functions.
Consultancy & framework calls
Assessments, evaluations, protocol design, data analysis and systems reviews.
Institutional capacity building
Curriculum, mentorship and secondment models for ministries and implementers.
A proposed profile, built on the members' records
The Africa Health Evidence & Systems Centre is being established as a Kenyan-registered technical organisation. Its target areas were agreed by the founding members on the basis of demonstrated expertise and long-term operational experience — not on market opportunity alone.
The profile therefore reads in two layers: the thirteen thematic areas the Centre will pursue for grants and consultancies, and the individual member resumes that substantiate each one.
This section is a working draft. Registration particulars, governance structure and audited financial statements will be published here as they are finalised.

Embedded technical assistance
Short and long-term advisors placed with ministries, programmes and implementing partners across surveillance, laboratory and supply chain functions.
Research, MEL and evaluation
Protocol development, ethics submission, field data collection, analysis and peer-reviewed publication, including implementation-science designs.
Digital health, data science & AI
Data architecture, interoperability, dashboards, predictive modelling and responsible application of AI to health and research workflows.
Training & institutional capacity
Curriculum design and delivery for field epidemiology, laboratory quality, data use and emergency response, with mentorship models.

Siyad Abdirahman Adan
A senior operations, supply chain and institutional systems leader with over 20 years supporting public health, humanitarian and development programmes across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
His expertise spans health programme operations, population-based surveys, health supply chains, procurement and logistics, field implementation, institutional capacity strengthening, governance, donor compliance and Health, Safety & Security — alongside fraud investigation, safeguarding, risk management and emergency preparedness.
Most recently he served as Operations Director for KENPHIA II, providing operational leadership for a national public health survey across all 47 counties of Kenya.
As Interim CEO he is leading AHESC's establishment, organisational systems, strategic partnerships, resource mobilisation and operational readiness — committed to African-led, evidence-driven systems that translate research and data into practical health impact.

Publishing policy
All Centre outputs are published open access where funder terms permit, with African first and senior authorship as the default expectation.
